Article: Art courtesy 101If you're having trouble getting commissions or finding people to do art for you, and you can't understand why, OR if you seem to be having bad luck with other artists via the results of your requests and paid art, here are a few things you can use to troubleshoot and pinpoint your problem.
TLDR: Scroll down the page. Stop every time you see a Q: and read the question. If it's not something you're seeking help for, go ahead and skip to the next question to avoid reading through a wall of text, trying to squint for keywords.
*******COMMISSION-GIVING HELP: ********
Q: "I'm new to DA and I can't get any commissions."
A: The best way to solve this is to go out into the community. Don't just ninja fave, leave comments and start conversation. The more people you know, the more likely one of them will decide that your art is just to their taste and send you commissions. Also, stock up your gallery as fast as you can. The more art you have on display, the more likely someone is to see somethin
Article: HELP ME! I can't draw!Okay, so I've been talking to a lot of people who want to use my concepts, lineart, etc. because they don't think they can make art on their own without taking it from someone else in one form or another. I've gotten really exasperated, but I struggled not to lose my patience and hear what they have to say. And surprisingly, I learned a WHOLE BUNCH of completely unexpected things from them about why they try to do their art with the use of existing art from more experienced artists.
I'm going to use what I've learned from (and about!) these people to try to help them, and all artists from beginners to experienced peeps that have a lot of trouble or are frustrated with their quality of art. If there's a question you have that it didn't dawn on me to include, please contact me, and I will paste it into this journal.
Q: "I don't know how to draw. At all. I can't afford to go to art school."
A: "Tutorials, tutorials, tutorials. There are thousands of tutorials all over the internet, luckil
Stranger LoveI am not the sunlit wing-print
splayed out on the bedroom wall.
I am not the dark mass forming
in a corner of an airless hall.
I am not the viscous vengeance
where you sink your spinning wheels.
I am not the leaky bucket
hung up on your wishing well.
You are not my soul mate missing
wandering a winter's night.
You are not the sound of angels
singing by a candle's light.
You are not the rasp of fingers
fumbling with a hasp of steel.
You are not the tattered towel
soaking up the things I feel.
I am the oblivious child,
dancing where the wildflowers are.
You are my unwitting captive
lighting up a jelly jar.
A Week Of KissesA Week Of Kisses
The first day I told you I loved you,
I imagined kissing your shoulder,
Well before I thought about your lips.
Because I don’t know what I am doing, firstly,
But more importantly,
It’s because I know things can spiral quickly,
If things start shifting
After we lay down the concrete.
So I kiss the foundation,
Before we reach the soil.
The second day I told you I loved you,
I imagined kissing your elbow,
Because it holds together the touch
And the flex.
To exhibit it,
I must kiss the joint that bends
And combines us together.
The third day I told you I loved you,
I lay my lips to your temples,
As I learned about the temple of reform,
For the Youth in North America.
Kissing you there signifying I will protect you,
As well as your temple,
As we re-form, into something more.
The fourth day I told you I loved you,
I’d kiss you softly on your forehead.
Because that’s what holds your brillian
